Cleaning Vinyl vs. Wood Fences

Vinyl and wood age differently and need different cleaning approaches. Soft washing suits vinyl; wood calls for gentler pressure and the right solution.

Vinyl: durable but textured

Vinyl doesn't absorb water, but its texture traps green algae and dirt. Soft washing with a suitable solution generally restores a bright finish.

Wood: softer and porous

Wood can be damaged by excessive pressure — raised grain and gouges are common results of aggressive washing. Gentler pressure and wood-appropriate solutions are key.

Cleaning vs. refinishing

Cleaning removes growth and weathering film. Staining and sealing are separate finishing services. Caloosa provides the cleaning; see our fence cleaning page.
